At Phergal we are celebrating by being recognised with the ‘Calculo y Compenso’ certificate awarded by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco). This recognition fills us with joy and is a true testament to the hard work and commitment of the company and its technical teams to the environment.
What does the ‘Calculo y Compenso’ label mean?
The ‘Calculo y Compenso’ label is part of a voluntary programme that aims to encourage companies to measure, reduce and offset their CO2 emissions.
By obtaining this label, Phergal Laboratorios joins a select group of companies that have not only calculated their emissions, but have also taken concrete steps to offset more than 90% of these through certified carbon offset projects.
Our commitment in action
This year, the focus was on beating our own record: we managed to offset 94.56% of our emissions. This was made possible by investing in reforestation projects in the forests of Cascajares in Burgos and Rábano in Valladolid, which not only offset emissions but also contribute to biodiversity.
A commitment beyond expectations
In addition to our work with Miteco, since 2019 we have been collaborating with Plant for the Planet, an organisation that fights the climate crisis through the reforestation of forests. Through this partnership, we have neutralised 300 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, totalling 1,500 tonnes offset since the start of our collaboration.
